A few interesting facts about Very Beryl

My name is Cheryl Barnes and I’m the designer behind Very Beryl. That’s Cheryl with the English pronunciation like “chicken” and “chair”, not the French version, which is derived from the word “chéri” (meaning darling).

I’ve been called Beryl by my friends since my late teens. Interestingly enough, Beryl is said to form part of the origins behind the name Cheryl. Beryl is also a precious stone, but that’s just a flukey bonus seeing as I run a jewellery business!

Prior to founding Very Beryl, I had some fantastic experiences as Head Designer for a successful costume jewellery company. I lived abroad for several years in this role but in the end my heart drove me home to England. I missed the quirky Brits and their humour just a little too much.

In the early months of 2010 my creative ambition tipped into overload and I left my job in pursuit of my own creative identity. The result was an adventure into the unknown with all the usual peaks and troughs. The end product is this quirky yet elegant jewellery brand heavily influenced by British eccentricity and set to be the next cult classic.

Very Beryl will attract those who are fashion forward with their own sense of style. If you like vintage, off-beat and beautifully executed jewellery, I’m happy you dropped by – I’m just sorry I can’t offer you a cuppa and a slice of cake.
